by cantleave inyou might have read about this over the last day or two, i was going to add this to the "common ancestry" thread, i considered it somewhat off topic as it is more to do with evolutionary transition.. the shells of turtles and tortoises have always been a bit mystery for evolutionery biologists.
a turtle shell is not a single structure but a complex one made up from the fused bones analogous to the ribs and vertebrae of other vertebrates.
these bones in effect form a pseudo exoskeleton.

At what age can a JW be baptised in the UK?

in the uk the age of consent by law for a child is 16 and only then can they be baptized of their own free will.
is anyone aware of jws that have been baptised younger than 16 in the uk?.

Children and babies are baptised in all kinds of denominations in the UK, .. there is no law against it. Linking the age of sexual consent to it in a persons mind doesnt change anything about it. Legal adulthood is 18 in the UK.

If man evolved?
by tornapart ini know anyone who believes in evolution is going to say that there is no 'if' about it.
however.... if man evolved over hundreds of thousands of years ago, why were there only about 200-300 million people alive 2,000 years ago?
surely there'd have been many billions by then?.

Believing in the bible as god given fact is fine for someone who thinks they know more than all of science put together (we are now talking about dumb stubborn pride here after all now aren't we rather than ignorance), but teaching that to children should be viewed as a form of child abuse.
